Making It

When some people get together and fall in love…they make babies. Other people, when they connect and take the plunge, they make cakes and databases.
No, I’m not kidding and such was the case last night.
Wednesday night is the official date night of Artie and Jillian. It’s a special time that they set aside just for spending good ol’ fashioned quality time together. But instead of what would define any couple/serious relationship date night (i.e. movies, making out, romantic walks, making out, dinner, and making out), Jillian wanted to make an Access database.
Now I realize that some of the readers out there would probably think, “What a crappy way to spend date night!” I’m going to have to stop you right there and say that I disagree. If a woman came up to me and said, “Hey you sexy computer beast. I need you to work your magic and help make me a baby database.”
A single tear roll down my cheek and I would whisper one word: Shibby.
What better way to work on your couple team skillz than to design a database together. Not to mention romantic. Just fire up your iTunes, dim the lights, snuggle up, and a get your Access on by the soft glow of a laptop screen. That’s what I like to call a “win-win situation”. Besides, they don’t call databases relational for nothing. However in this case, it would a one-to-one relationship. Unless of course you are Mormon…that would be a one-to-many relationship.
And how do you wrap up an evening of couple computer work? Bake a cake or two. Bonus.
It was a b-e-a-utiful thing.

I'm currently living in Tallahassee, FL where I am a graduate of the Computer Science program at FSU and a C# web developer for a local software company.
Oh heck yes.
It was a multifunctional multi-relation database at that.
Plus we had Rum Cake. Can’t go wrong there.
I did manage to steal a couple of kisses, but the database is the only access I am going to get in this relationship (until I am married).
The best comment of the night, speaking of access to marriage, was when Artie turned to me and asked “What do you want it to look like?”
Knowing full well that he was referring to the database, I couldn’t help but to say, “Princess cut, solitare . . .” but that was all I could get out before Josh started laughing at us.
Ah, I love date night. I love my computer nerd boyfriend. And I love my new access database.
That is way better than a Matt can you do my taxes date> That one kinda sucked.
Hey Josh, I’ve been looking for an excuse to use my newly acquired databasing skills
…I’m sure I could find a recepie for your favorite cookies too.

Two words I never thought I would hear together from Jillian: “Princess cut”
