Shaft-ed

Finally…Friday hath arrived. After getting my oil changed last night at Pace’s Fish Camp in lovely backwoods GA, I’m ready for the weekend. Ah Pace’s…where the only thing that isn’t fried is the salad. The good thing is that my joints don’t squeak anymore. And that’s a good thing.
And in other news, CompUSA made the list. Check this out, I called up there last Saturday to see if I could extend a warrenty on a video card. Atfer waiting on hold for awhile, I finally spoke to a manager who said I could do that. I would have to bring in my card, they would test it out to make sure it is in good working order, and give me a nre warrenty. So Kari and I stroll up there Wednesday night with my video card in hand. I get up to the counter, explain what is going on, and they look at me like I’m crazy. And of course, they couldn’t find who I spoke to and the manager on duty didn’t remember having a conversation.
Long story short: No dice. In the vast history of CompUSA, they have never done anything like that…ever.
“Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler… ”
Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm currently living in Tallahassee, FL where I am a graduate of the Computer Science program at FSU and a C# web developer for a local software company.
Paces was good, but the story of the night came from the other guy that graduated with me.
Remember i came from a graduating class of 6 so he literaly was the other guy.
Cory went into the army 6 years ago. he’s been in Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He’s going to Iraq. Did he say anything about how bad it was over there? nope, matter of fact it seemed like he actually liked it. But upon further conversation he admitted being scared about going back to one place. Was it the desert/mountains of Afghan? nope Was it Iraq? nope.
It was Oakland, CA. I’ll let you come to your on conclusions with that one.
Oh yes. Paces.
So Good.
You mean you’ve actually had a GOOD past with CompUSA? That place has been almost as horrible as Best Buy the last few times I’ve been there.
The last time I went in that store (September, 2004), all I needed was a tube of thermal paste. There wasn’t any left on the shelf, so I asked one of their “tech” guys if they had some in the back and he instantly responded with, “No, we’re out” without even looking at a computer stock list or going into the back. On my way out of the store, I had the cashier look it up in the computer, only to find out there was a whole case of Arctic Silver sitting in the back. I explained what happened and she went back and got it for me. I didn’t have to pay for the paste, but I still hate CompUSA.
Josh, I’m disappointed in you. You should be changing your own oil.
Actually, I never really ask them for help or purchase anything there. I just go play with the floor models to get an idea of what to buy elsewhere. Well that and slightly take advantage of their warrenty plans.
how are you gonna throw out a complaint or get angry w/comp usa for that dustin you got the paste for F-R-E-E. i’m pretty sure that makes up for the inconvience of asking the girl to look.
It was more in-depth than I thought a “comment” warranted. I was in the store dealing with the first employee (as well as a second “tech” that apparently walked over to help his buddy get rid of the problem customer) for 20 minutes.
CompUSA has the same problem Best Buy does. The kind of job they offer only attracts the laziest workers (i.e. college students) that don’t think they’re being paid enough to deal with whatever is going on.
I’d post as good reply to that comment, but I don’t get paid enough to deal with all this comment stuff…
