Hugs and Kisses

Ok kids I’m sitting here at work thinking about life, love, music, and sports and it dawned me hockey season is upon us. Why does that strike me as important? Has Matt changed his views that hockey is more irrelevant than even US soccer? Is Hell finally freezing over?

For the record I hate hockey I truly believe that there only need to be 8 teams and the broadcasting should only be in select (?)hockey loving(?) states. The rest of the country may say ohh you are being too hard about it or hockey does matter. Quit trying to make it sound like it is a major sport. How many minutes of hockey have you or your household watched in the last decade? I’ll put money that you watched more minutes of NBA games last year than the entire decade worth of hockey.

With that said last years strike was the best thing to ever happen to ESPN and America. We finally had stuff to watch on Thursday nights, Poker. Which is I admit addicting and fun to view. However the evil demon has raised its head once again; this time our sports champion smote with a mighty blow. They told the league that Poker gets better ratings and we are sticking with a glorified bar game.

This leads me to my next point there should be only one hockey team in the entire South and by South I mean all of it. That team should be the Dallas Stars. One super-regional team that the entire southern half of the US can pull behind if we aren’t to busy watching the rerun of Michael Chan winning his unprecedented tenth gold bracelet. We don’t even have snow for Heaven’s Sake, much less ice to skate on.

The return of the NHL, which largely will go unnoticed until contraction talks begin, is a blow to the American TV audience, but fortunately for us its football season. The most wonderful season of the year. It may even be better than Christmas; come on Notre Dame has Touchdown Jesus. I’ve always wondered if that is similar to Buddy Christ….

I digress…

Before I leave you kids, I’d like to send a little love Lauren. Even though this probably isn’t exactly what she was looking for it goes out to her, at least she’ll stop nagging me about it . For like a week anyway. I’d also like to tell RT he sucks for putting the pressure on me to write one of these things. I hate working under a deadline. To all my peeps ya’ll stay safe and cool.
