Check Your Batteries

Ahoy!

It’s going to be a long two days until Thanksgiving. While I highly support the idea of getting your hearing tested annually (especially in an industrial environment), I don’t support the idea of having it done across from my office. So yeah, over the next two days I’m going to have just about every person that works here camped out in front of my office. That would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 255-ish some bodies.

Please don’t get me wrong. I like to see people that I haven’t seen in a while at work. We’re open 24 hours a day with three shifts so I don’t always get to see the same people when I’m out in the plant. It’s nice to catch up, talk some football smack, and hear the latest work happenings. But it’s not so nice to have just about every single person come by and ask a computer question. Most of them start out with, “Say, I’ve been meaning to come up here and talk to you…” or “I’ve had this computer problem for the past few weeks or so…” I swear, its like they save up problems all year and stop by to cash everything in at one time.

That’s part of the reason why I moved to a different office in the first place. I used to be by the kitchen, water fountain, and bathrooms. Talk about a high traffic area. I had people coming by all the time to BS and kill time on the way back from their various breaks. Not to mention the fact that I got tired of having to listen to people with explosive diarrhea all the time.

But I digress.

In hopes of detouring all but the most persistent end-user, I closed my door. By closed I mean “left it cracked open in an inviting sort of way”. So far it seems to be working rather well.

And I’m spent.

This wasn’t the post I had intended for today…but I need to rant a little.

PS – The hearing people have heard the “I”M HERE FOR THE HEARING TEST!” and “WHAT?” jokes before.

Really neat web-type comic.

Tank Assualt.

Drunk German wets his bed, then burns down his house.

First step in creating your hidden lair.

Stone Breaker.

Fugitive surprised when the church he ran into to hide was filled with praying police officers, who then verily did smacketh him down.
