I Survived…Here’s The T-Shirt

Ahoy!

Man, some days I feel like I need a vacation day to recover from days off work. Then I suppose I would need another day to recover from the recovery vacation day. After that I probably just need one more day…never mind.

At any rate, I had a really goodtime over the long Thanksgiving weekend. I can also happily report that Kari survived meeting my family. I believe she even walked way from the encounter with a few brownie points. As with most Thanksgiving events, the best way to fight off post turkey naps is to throw around the ol’ pigskin. After tossing the ball around for a few, I went inside to get a glass of water. On my way in, my grandfather stops me and says, “Your girlfriend plays better ball than you.”

Thanks Granddaddy.

Honestly, I can’t deny that. Kari’s experience playing IM football for many semesters at FSU is far better than my years of experience playing as FSU on NCAA Football for the PS2. Oh well, that’s just one more thing my family can use to make fun of me.

Overall, the experience wasn’t too embarrassing. I think I probably embarrassed myself more by accident than my family telling embarrassing stories about me. Oh well, I suppose that’s the way it goes. Later on that night (Thursday) I had 50 lbs of roasted pig goodness with Artie’s thanksgiving feast. More on that probably tomorrow since I forgot to upload the pics from the event.

Friday I had another Thanksgiving meal with Kari and her family. Yes, we played cards and no, I didn’t get schooled for a change. I managed to hold my own at Michigan poker (Kari and I netted .52 cents) but I almost got my tail beat down in hearts. Almost.

Saturday FSU cough lost cough to the cough Gators again. It was a really pathetic game but at least it wasn’t a shutout. I’m also glad that Kari and I didn’t go to the game. I really, really dislike the swamp and about 90% of the general gator fan population. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

Finally on Sunday, I had the opportunity to lead communion meditation at Crossbridge. But this wasn’t an ordinary meditation. Crossbridge has been doing a series call God at the Box Office which uses movies as modern day parables. Sunday’s movie was…wait for it…wait for it…Star Wars Episode III. Oh yeah! I’m sure I’ll get around to posting what I talked about.

And that’s it for me. It’s been an extremely busy holiday weekend. I hope that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

I wish I could have been there for the Episode 3 sermon. “You would be wise not to betray me, Judas! I have the high ground now!”
