Internet Legends – Part II

Ahoy!

Today’s Internet legend is one of those deals that you love and hate at the same time. This particular legend is an excellent example of satire that crosses that line into the relm of blasphemy. At any rate, its worth a good laugh. Behold! I present to you the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

The birth of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) came about in June 2005 in the form of an open letter to the Kansas State School Board. In that letter, Bobby Henderson argued that if the Kansas School system was going to teach Intelligent Design, than they should offer multiple view points of said design. Specifically, the view of how the FSM created the universe with his “His Noodly Appendage”, starting with a mountain, trees, and a midget.

Since the letter hit the net, the FSM has a rather large fan base who go by the name of Pastafarians. They even have a Jesus-type car emblem, a flash game, a parody of Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, and I believe they are working on a bible type book.
