A Real Talent

Well, apparently I have about as much luck getting a flight out of Atlanta as I do attending MSHA safety meetings. Each year I have to subject myself to eight straight hours of safety training because of where I work. Yes, the meetings are as exciting as they sound.
I couldn’t attend any of the meetings last week since I was in Texas. I told the guy to just put me down for a day this week. Well he put me down for Tuesday and didn’t tell me. So I missed that meeting. But it wasn’t like I could have made it anyway since I was getting a nail removed from my tire Tuesday morning. I didn’t make it to the meeting on Wednesday either since my tire blew out again. I roll up to work on Thursday, go down to the conference center, and the instructor is sick. Meeting canceled. There is one last meeting today but I can’t attend since every other IT person is their and someone has to man the fort.
Believe me, I devastated that I can’t go. This would be the third year we’ve had the same instructor and I hated to miss him. Why? Because he reminds me of a 1987 used car salesman. He’s got the gold rings, gold necklace, top button of his shirt unbuttoned to let his chest hair (aka chest mullet) sway in the wind, and a personality to match. The only thing he’s missing is a pair of plaid pants and used Yugo. His jokes get old fast and his laugh begins to grate on the nerves after the first 30 minutes.
Knowing my luck I’ll have to make it up with a smaller crowd where its harder to hide and not bring attention to myself.
Oh well. I’ll just have to enjoy the fact that 90% of the people in my office are down at the conference center.
Have a great weekend everyone!
