Jamacian Me Crazy Mon – Part III

OK, now for the grand finale…I guess.
We saved Saturday for our excursion into Montego Bay. We took a taxi from the resort to the Hip Strip in MoBay. The Hip Strip is a road that is lined with Jamaican goodness. There’s a ton of places to shop, eat, and just take in the Jamaican culture. They even have access to (for a small fee) a beach called the Doctors Cove. It looked like it was about to pour down rain, so we didn’t check the Cove out.
At the end of the Hip Strip, they have a Margaritaville (which was amazing). Since it was on the water, it had a huge water slide. In the water they had two trampolines connected by foam tube. We sat out on the patio, ate some Volcano nachos, and watched people try to run across the tube from one trampoline to the other. It was great! I don’t think anyone ever got all the way across. However, there were some spectacular wipeouts…especially from the older people. We also went by a store that my parents frequent. It was rather cool to meet people that live in Jamaica and know my parents. Sadly we didn’t make it over to the CCCD School…so we’ll just have to make a another trip down.
Tragic, I know.
On Sunday we loaded up our clothes and swag and headed to the airport. After being herded though check-in, immagration, and security check points, we settled down in the Margaritaville in the airport to watch the World Cup. Just as a side note, I had a jerk burger and it was Jamaican good. There’s also a ton of places to get any last minute duty-free stuff at really good prices. Finally we boarded the plane and flew to Miami.
Overall, I had a wonderful time and Jamaica is a wonderful place. I’m really excited that my parents are moving down there and I can see the need to have them there. Its definitely a place I would visit again.
