8 to 5

That would be my new working hours. Its not too different with from my previous workings hours (7:30 AM to 4:00 PM). Well, just the execption of now it only takes me 20 minutes to get to work with traffic and I get an hour lunch break. I think that’s one of the biggest adjustments…I now have lunch choices. Before I was one of the two greasy spoons in Attapulgus or whatever I managed to import. Yeah, today, I had Moe’s. It rocked.
Overall, I had an awesome first day. Everyone seems really nice and friendly. Orginally I was told I was going to be working on a new system for the State. It had something to do with online license management for a new department or something like that. Today I found out I’m going to be on a team to overhaul a system for the DOE. That’s a good thing because it means I’ll be staying at the main office on Thomasville RD instead of working out of a State building.
The irony is that I now have a cubical-like desk in an open area that I share with three or four other people. Its not as bad as it sounds. Our area is located at the corner of the third floor so we have plently of window space. We have so much in fact that they keep the overhead lights off and just work in the ambient lighting. I’ll be set just as soon as I can hook up my iPod.
Oh, something else that’s going to take some getting used to: I actually work with people my own age. I was always the youngest person at the plant. Always.
So that’s about it for my first day. Stay tuned boys and girls.
