Monthaversary

Happy Cooler Thursday everyone!!
In case you didn’t notice, I’m a little excited about the cooler weather we’ve experienced yesterday and day. I’ve been looking forward to days like this since mid-May. For me, the cooler weather also signals football season is officially here. I mean, yeah sure, its been here for almost a month. But you just don’t get the full effect without cooler weather.
In other news, today marks a full month at my new job. Overall, I still like it very much. I still enjoy the perks like carpooling with Kari, actually having lunch choices (although most days I don’t have a car and just eat a sandwich I bring in), dressing up (yes, I haven’t gotten tried of ironing everyday), and getting to know everyone. We also get free snacks and sodas…but I don’t know if that’s really a perk.
As for my work load, it varies from day to day. Most days I’m flowcharting the existing system, setting up test data, going through lines and lines of code, or taking part in peer or alpha testing. We’re supposed to start rewriting the software I’m working on early next month. I’m kinda glad it doesn’t start until then because this program is a beast. I’ve been using the time trying to get a handle on everything this massive reporting web app does.
The only thing that kinda stinks is that we are switching health insurance carriers. However, the new insurance doesn’t go into effect until November 1. So I had to sign up for the current insurance Tuesday for coverage in October and I’ve got to sign up tomorrow for the new health insurance. Joy. Lots and lots of forms. Not to mention I had to get temporary health insurance for the month of September since BASF’s coverage ended on Aug 31 and Infinity’s doesn’t kick in until Oct 1. Its just one of those things you don’t really need it until something unexpected bad happens (like breaking your hand).
Yes. I realize there aren’t any links today either. I promise that I’m working on a new system to get that back into place. It may or may not be part of secret plan #465. You’ll just have to stay tuned to find out.
