Happy Monday everyone! I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Just so you know, Christmas is exactly one week from today. So if you haven’t wrapped up your Christmas shopping…Dad…consider this your heads up.

In other news, my Mustang GT is gone. I’d wouldn’t say she was put out to pasture. More like put on the auction block. And her replacement? Drum roll please…and the new hotness is:

A 2007 Mazda3 i Touring

Yes, a foreign car of fuel efficiency and four-door proportions. Why one of these? Well, I didn’t want a Honda and I wasn’t really excited about a Toyota. A VW Jetta was a tad bit more than we were looking to spend and I didn’t find the body styling of the Hyundai appealing. We found the Mazda3s to be sexy and affordable with options we wanted.

Once we had decided on a car and the options, we searched online for the closest dealership that had the car. It ended up being in Gainesville…which I wasn’t happy about. I mean, that’s the last place I wanted to go to buy a car. We figured we would stop by the Mazda place here in Tallahassee on Tuesday just to see if they would cut us a deal. Plus we wanted a dry run to test out or haggling skills.

We ended up haggling a pretty decent deal on the Mazda…until I mentioned that I wanted to trade-in my Mustang. It kinda went down hill from there. Because I didn’t have the Mustang with me, they gave me a really crappy trade-in value my car. It actually raised the price of the Mazda since they quoted me a price for my Mustang that was less than the amount I owed.

I was not happy about that at all.

But they wanted me to bring the Mustang in and let them look over it. So I spend part of Wednesday and most of Thursday (in the rain) cleaning up the Mustang. I took it over to the Mazda place, they looked it over, and almost doubled the trade-in value of the car.

When it was all said and done, they finally made an offer that we liked. Plus it saved us at least two trips to Gainesville because we weren’t going to drive down there and take what every they offered. So we told them to get us the car from Gainesville since that was the one we wanted.

Being the Gators that they are, the Mazda place wouldn’t let go of the car we wanted. We ended up getting the car from a dealership in Macon, GA. As an added bonus, the car came with door guards, wheel locks, and a moonroof wind deflector that we didn’t have to pay for.
So here are the details on the car:

We ended up getting the car we wanted, plus a few extras, for the amount we were looking to spend and I feel like a got a good value for my Mustang.

Here’s a pic of a Mazda3 that looks very similar to one we got Saturday. I’ll try to take some pictures of ours when I got home this evening and post them tomorrow.

Sorry, I had to give you a hard time. But you will seriously like the car.

    Joshua,
Although it’s not the GT 500 that I was hoping you would get,
the little rice burner is not bad. What are YOU driving today?
Also, I wanted to let you know that the Goober and myself are really enjoying the 2 tons of nuts, bolts, and screws that
the Gus whipped up on Sat.It is truly outstanding this year.
I’ll talk with Goober and see if he will cut you in on some.
    Love you,
    Dad
