Wedding Update #5

Happy Monday everyone! Well, it was quite a busy weekend. While I spend most of it translating a C program into MIPS assembly language, we did take a quick trip down to Carrabelle to check out another potential reception location. This time it was the Senior Center in the heart of the town. Read: no where near the water. Although it did have a fantastic seaside mural painted on the side which reminded me of a photo background one would use at a high school prom. So at least we would have great place for some photo ops.
The inside of the center is quite roomy with plenty of chairs and tables. Another plus. My attention is drawn to the back wall where a huge electronic bingo flashboard was mounted. Bonus! We could totally entertain our guests with a few games of bingo!
Oh, I failed to mention that there was a fund raiser going on that night at the center to benefit a WWII museum in Carrabelle. Which was good because we got to see the place packed out with old peoples and the logistics of serving food. By far the highlight of the evening was the band. Yes, a band. Not just any band either. No, this was a band that was made up of an accordion, guitar, and drum set.
Let me just say that the polka music and dancing was magical.
Just to sum things up: here we’ve got a large room, complete with tables and chairs, a place to do some dancing, a sound system, and a lovely beach mural to take photos in front of. Not only that, but we’ve can hire the same band as well!
So what was our decision?
We’re going to hold off on this place and use it for our 50th wedding anniversary. We felt like it was a little bit…out of our age range.
But we still have a place that we really want to get and a back up location that we know we can get at any time. We’re just still trying to track down the owner of the first place.
Well, that’s about it for me today. Have a great Monday everyone!
