Wii Scored!

For Valentine’s Day! (wink, wink)
That’s right! We finally gots a Nintendo Wii! For those of you who need a refresher, we were supposed to get a Wii for Christmas, but JC Penny gave us the ho ho ho finger. With Christmas left in shambles, we figured we would just wait until our birthdays in March to start looking for a Wii again. Happy Birthday to us right?
As Valentine’s Day approached, I figured I could get Kari one since she was still disappointed from Christmas. I mean, what better way to say, “I love you!” than to get your significant other a gaming system. Plus I figured that she would be surprised since she wasn’t expecting one for another six or so weeks. And thus my quest to find a Wii grew into a borderline, foaming at the mouth, obsession.
My obsession was further fueled by the fact that Captain Matt called me on the last Sunday in January saying that he scored a Wii at the Wal-Mart in Bainbridge. And by call I mean rub it in my face. But I deserved it because he invited me to drive up there at midnight on Saturday and I turned him down because of bad weather. Totally my fault. So I continued my online quest for the holy grail of the holiday season.
Now this is when it gets interesting. I finally found one online at Sears a few days later. I was a little hesitant on ordering one online, especially from somewhere similar to JC Penny. What the heck, I just went for it. Now fast forward a few days later to Saturday night. Feeling a little spontaneous and trying to keep up the illusion that I hadn’t got one for Kari yet, I called the Bainbridge Wal-Mart to see if they were getting any in stock. Just a side note, retailers typically stockpile their consoles and release them at midnight. Which I guess is technically 12:01 AM Sunday morning.
But I digress.
I called Wal-Mart and they actually had four in stock from the previous weekend. And just as a time line reference, that’s the weekend that Matt scored his. Anyways, we ended up driving up to Bainbridge for the heck of it. In the time it took for us to drive up, they had sold two of them…and we picked up the other two. That’s right, I went from having zero Wiis having three.
Crazy.
We ended up finding two homes for the other Wiis and Kari got one for Valentine’s Day.
Everybody wins!
And the Wii itself? It’s everything I’d hope for and more. I’d recommend one to any family of any age. And heck, Wii Sports has been giving me a little workout because my arms are a little sore. I refer to it as Wii-elbow. Anyways, I should have more on the Wii later on.
And see, this post is the second in two days AND it’s a Tuesday post.
How to really annoy people.
Wal-Mart beats expectations, sweatshop workers.
Movie theaters are annoying. Strong Bad explains why.
1) Buy some hamburgers, 2) Place your cat in the empty bag then upload the video to YouTube, 3) Profit??
