Stick a Fork In Me

Cause I am done! There were times when I didn’t think I was going to make it to this point. Seriously. And let me just say that the past week has been hell. I was planning on taking my Data Structures test on Friday but the prof didn’t post the study guide until Thursday night. So I decided to take that test on Tuesday instead. Instead of studying for the test, I opted to start the programming assignment on Friday night that was due on Sunday by midnight. Between after work on Friday until about 9:00 PM on Sunday, I spent about 34 waking hours writing just under 1500 lines of code on that program that emulates an internet router using hash tables. Once I got that out of the way, I started studying for the test on Tuesday. Sadly, I didn’t even get to watch the new episode of Heroes on Monday. But I took the test Tuesday afternoon and I was done with that class. I do feel like I did pretty well on the test…which is a very good thing.
Now let me shift gears to Computer Organization. I was more or less done in that class…having turned in my last assignment and taken a test two weeks ago. According to the class calendar, there was to be an online final on Tuesday which covered Chapters 4 and 8. No big deal there…especially since the final only counted for 5% of my grade. Well come to find out that there wasn’t going to be an online test. Oh no, instead I had to write a four page paper where each page was a response to a question. On top of that, each page had to be single spaced. Not cool. And just to give you an idea as to what I was up against, this was one of the questions:
Describe what is meant by I/O Bound Tasks.
So I pulled out my trusty book, flip to the index, and didn’t find any reference to I/O Bound Tasks. Not admitting defeat, I checked out Wikipedia to see what they had to say about I/O Bound Tasks. If you’re too lazy to click on the link, let me tell you how much ol’ Wiki had to say: three sentences. That’s right. I’m supposed to write a full page on this topic and the almighty mecca of knowledge only had three sentences to say. Somehow I manged to squeeze out just over 3/4′s of a page. “Wonder Twin powers, Activate! Form of: BS!” There was no way I was getting a full, single spaced page out of that.
At any rate, I’m done with school until August. Hurray for sweet, sweet freedom! Now I can get back to focusing on the website.
