Updated for Upgrade

Happy Humpday everyone! Well, a new version of the content management software I use to run this site was released yesterday morning. Supposedly this is a mucho huge update that, while adds a crap ton of new features, changes the underlying database structure. In layman’s terms, that means when I go to upgrade the the site, it can either go really well or just blow the entire thing way.
If the latter happens, it’s game over man.
Needless to say, I’m taking every precaution before attempting the upgrade. Right now I’m making sure all the plugins I have installed are compatible. As my luck would have it, about 20% are not. So I’ve had to make a few changes to the site to ensure it will function post-upgrade:
- I had to disable the AJAX Comments for now. The comments still work…just not as flashy.
- Photo Gallery – Completely overhauled. I believe this is the third time I’ve totally changed this section. I’ve never really like the way the gallery functioned but I think I finally got it this time. Please note that the photos are now grouped chronologically by Year instead of Category with the newest photos at the top.
- Contact Form – New and improved.
- Archives – New and improved.
After all there, I still have about four or five plugins that may or may not work with the new version. I’m going to hold off on upgrading the site until them. I’ll keep you posted on the status and hopefully things will happen within two weeks.
That’s all I have for today. I took me a while to get all the photos moved and organized.
Enjoy the new changes and I’ll see you tomorrow.
FYI – Christmas is coming up.
