Triumphant Return

Ahoy!

Could this really be true?

A post…here?

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This isn’t some mirage brought on by the posting drought.

This is an actual post.

Aside from the fact that I’m going to have to work a little this weekend…life has shifted down a gear or two. Honestly, I haven’t really been able to tell that it has yet since it has been quite a hectic week. And despite the fact that I can’t take any classes this summer, I still feel like I have assignments due. Part of me goes, “Oh crap, I have a programming project due on Thursday!” And then right before the panic sets in, I realize there aren’t going to be any more projects like that until September.

Before I start divulging the details of my web disappearance, I need to get some maintenance work out of the way. For starters, I’ve noticed the website has been running like a dog dragging its butt across the carpet. I’m still trying to figure out why that’s happening. But to help combat the issue, I updated the backend to the latest and greatest version. It was way past due. I also ran some database optimizations. Finally, I’ve started to trim away some of the dead (i.e. lesser used) sections of the website:

That’s about it for trimming for now. The forum is next up on the chopping block. I mean, it has been for sometime. But for some reason I just can’t bring myself to finish it off. Part of me feels like I would be bulldozing an old historic school house.

Anyways, that’s the current state of the website. Hopefully the posts will start flowing again.

Have a great weekend everyone!

    Josh, you said:

It’s Dreamhost. You could have a single page on your site with one line of code, and it would still drag running on Dreamhost.

EVERY DH site runs like that. They need to add more plutonium to their flux capacitor or something.
