Red Ring of Death Update

After twittering my loss yesterday, Artie asked the following question on Twitter:
Didn’t you already have the xbox 360 ring of death?
Well, kinda.
Way back in December of 2007 my first 360 started to freeze while playing games. I only had that puppy for a year too. The odd thing was that I never got the dreaded Red Ring of Death (RRoD) and I was fairly certain it was an over heating issue. Long story short, I sent the 360 to Microsoft and I got a new one about 20 days later. The new one (the one that died yesterday) only had a three month warranty which expired in March of 2008. At least that one lasted longer than a year.
I do have to tip my hat to Microsoft. They have recognized the design/manufacturing defect and extended the warranty for that specific issue to three years and will cover the cost of the shipping both ways.
Anyways, I should have a box on my front door by Monday. Until I get my third 360, I guess I’ll just have to bust out my original Nintendo. You know, the one that still works and doesn’t overheat…20+ years later.
